Should Mayor Ed Clark resign?

That’s the Greeley Tribune’s question of the week.   This time the Tribune is outraged because Mayor Clark showed a fake  (obviously)  $3 bill  with President-elect Barack Obama in a turban to a University Schools student.   Clark is in charge of security at the Greeley charter school.   Full disclosure, two of my kids attend University.   Apparently the student showed the funny money to other students and a parent complained.   Clark apologized but did say it was just political satire.  Fine. Was it unsensitive? Maybe.   Does it rise to the level of resignation? Hardly.   Even when considering publicity surrounding Clark’s other situations? Again, no.

Obviously the Tribune and I don’t agree on this issue but what I find amazing is that the Tribune considers Weld County District 3 Commissioner elect Barbara Kirkmeyer’s probable violation of state statute a mere “bump in the road.”   So unethical and probably illegal behavior garners Kirkmeyer an endorsement from the Tribune while political satire and disciplining a spoiled, foul-mouthed teenager gets Clark a suggestion to resign.   Impressive.

  1. Kristy Passard Says:

The Greeley Tribune supports the Greeley area more than Mayer Ed Clark ever has. For him to say the Tribune should close is just another example of how much he doesn’t care about the community and business owners of Greeley.
